At the second meeting, Zhou proposed the formation of the "Prosperous Arts Creative of Guang Zhou, and the establishment of the Guang Zhou Art Academy. The Congress Committee approved the proposal. Zhou was also asked to join the planning committee for the Academy. The Guang Zhou Art Academy was eventually founded in 1981.

Career Highlights

1. Various paintings were selected for domestic exhibitions sponsored by government of China in 1972, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1981, and 1988. These exhibitions were held in China Fine Art Museum in Beijing and in other major cities in China.

2. Various paintings were selected for international art exhibitions sponsored by government of China. Painting “Hunan Communist Group” 2nd edition was shown in Albania, Romania and Yugoslavia in 1973. Painting “Children and Grandchildren” was shown in Thailand in 1986. Painting “The Boat” was shown in the small show exhibition in the Chinese Foreign Embassy in 1988. Painting “Willow in the Spring Breeze” was displayed in the Five Thousand Years of China exhibit at the Guggenheim Museum of New York in 1998.

3. Painting “Going to Visit Grandparents” won the Best of Show in the 6th National Show sponsored by Oil Painters of America in 1997. Painting “The Sisters” won the museum acquisition award at the CAC 91st Annual Golden Medal Exhibition in 2001 and the painting is permanently displayed at the Pasadena Historical Museum. Painting “Willow in the Spring Breeze” won the P50 Classic Paintings Award at the Guang Dong Art Association in 2006. Paintings “Eaton Canyon”, “The Quiet Moment” and “Joanna” won awards in CAC exhibitions.

4. Both “Hunan Communist Group” and “Willow in the Spring Breeze” are permanent collection at the China National Museum and China Fine Art Museum respectively.
